Our first fully-automated robot

Sta-Lok Terminals Ltd. are thrilled to be commemorating more than five decades of UK manufacturing, as 2023 represents the 50th year since the Sta-Lok Self-Fit Terminal was introduced at the 1973 International London Boat show.

Originally developed by the late Company Founder, Ivor Barfield, in an era without modern technology, where everything was crafted by hand, Sta-Lok are extremely proud to have retained roots as a family run UK manufacturer.

Today in 2023, Sta-Lok continues to adopt advances in technology and production methods for the manufacture of our products, which have become renowned globally for their high quality and reliability.

Automated manufacturing

Due to continued strong demand for our range of larger yacht fittings, earlier in 2023, Sta-Lok invested in additional CNC machinery, alongside its first fully automated robot.

Whilst Sta-Lok have continually invested in automated production technology for a number of years, the decision to invest further in automation was made to increase efficiency and productivity, in the manufacturing processes for fittings for 12mm wire and upwards.

Speaking about the investment, James Barfield, Sales Director said “These are plans and investments that we believe will help propel Sta-Lok through the next phase of growth and give us the ability to deliver an even greater experience to our customers, both in terms of product availability and improved lead times, specifically on our larger product ranges”.
